Gulf Coast Artists Hurricane Relief Program

Twenty-five Gulf Coast artists were recently selected to participate in the “Gulf Coast Artists Hurricane Relief Program.” These awards are part of a project created by the consortium of California artist residency programs and the Alliance of Artists Communities with generous support through a grant funded by the James Irvine Foundation. Each of the selected artists is provided with a one – two month residency at one of the six artists residency programs in California. Additionally each of the artists receive a $5000 stipend and inclusion in a publication designed to promote their careers. Over the next six months, Kala is pleased to host five artists from the Gulf Coast region. During their residency period, each of these artists will be invited to give an artists’ talk in our gallery. Please join us in welcoming these new artists to the Kala community and sharing in a cultural exchange with artists from the Gulf Coast.

The other participating California residency programs include Djerassi Resident Artists Program, 18th Street Arts Center, Exploratorium, Headlands Center for the Arts, Montalvo Arts Center. For more information on the Alliance and this project, please visit http://www.artistcommunities.org
