Eligibility
This competition is open to all artists living and/or working in the City
of Berkeley.
Location
The selected artwork will be exhibited in the Berkeley Martin
Luther King Civic Center Building, 2180 Milvia Street. The artwork
will be displayed for one year throughout the public areas on five
floors.
Project Description
This is an opportunity to show the richness of artistic
production within Berkeley. Approximately 30 artists work will be selected
through an open juried competition. Selected artworks will be displayed
for one year reflecting the diversity that is the hallmark of the City
of Berkeley.
Eligible Media
Artwork to be considered may include two dimensional,
framed works on paper, canvas or board, oil or acrylic paintings, photographs,
lithograph or digital prints, drawings, collage, mixed media and sculpture.
There are a few spaces for lightweight, freestanding sculpture no more
than 24” x 24” x 60” and wall mounted sculpture. Freestanding
sculpture must include a pedestal and if appropriate, plastic vitrine.
Wall mounted sculpture must not be excessively heavy.
What to Submit
The work will be juried by slides or jpg images submitted
on a CD. Artists
should submit a maximum of 5 images. Each slide or CD must be labeled
with the artist’s name, title, medium, date and dimensions. Digital
jpg images must be numbered to correspond with the artwork information
list on the application form. (Download

Application Deadline
The entry form, slides or CD, and a self-addressed
stamped envelope with adequate postage for the return of your images
must be addressed and delivered no later than

Award
An honorarium of $160 will be awarded to each artist selected for the
