Camp Kala • Teen Comics Lab: Panels and Perspectives • Ages 11-17

Calling all rising comic artists! During this one-week intensive, we will explore writing, storyboarding, illustrating, and laying out a visual narrative from start to finish. Participants will take inspiration from prominent styles of comic artists as well as animators around the world that have shaped the creative landscape as we know it. At the closing of the program, participants will have a unique comic zine or hand-drawn storyboard highlighting their creativity and new storytelling abilities.

All levels are welcome; Instruction is provided to meet each student’s interests, needs, and strengths.

About the Instructor:

Gideon Egbuchulam (also known as Ivorycurlz) is a Nigerian visual artist based in California who practices sequential arts, character design, and animation. He studied at San Jose State University with a focus on illustration. He is currently a part of several art collectives: FAMEpresents and, most recently, The BAYlies as an active creative in the Bay Area.
