Kristin Grahn Kyono is an Oakland artist who specializes in combining painting with printmaking. Using her own photographs as a springboard, her process is a meditation on the beauty of urban environments.
Kristin’s work has been featured by Saatchi Online’s “Art We Love This Week” and American Art Collector. Her art is exhibited in galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City and collected internationally. She produces large-scale commissions for businesses, hotels and restaurants around the globe, including San Francisco, Houston, London and Dubai. Kristin earned a B.A. in both Studio Art and Sociology from Whitman College, an M.F.A. from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and a Certificate from the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
When not working at her studio at The Compound, Kristin enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their two very active little boys. She also teaches at many Bay Area institutions, including University of California Berkeley Art Studio, The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, Palo Alto Art Center, and Kala Art Institute in Berkeley.
