Contemporary Gilding on Paper, Wood and Fabric

This workshop will introduce students to a contemporary approach to the traditional technique of gilding (the process of applying metal leaf to a surface) and also how it might be used in kintsugi, the art of repairing & highlighting broken pottery with metal. The first day will provide students with exercises that prepare them to use this technique on multiple surfaces, while the second day will explore it’s use in the art of kintsugi. This gilding technique requires patience and can be used by students of all skill levels.
