Contemporary Gilding

This workshop will introduce students to a contemporary gilding technique. Participants will learn the process of preparing different material surfaces (paper, fabric, wood) so that metal can be applied to and incorporated in your artwork. This technique can be used by students of all skill levels. It requires patience and the ability to steady a brush.

About the Instructor:

Solange Roberdeau is a multi-media artist whose work emphasizes slowing down and seeking out the creative potential in our immediate environments. She currently uses ink, graphite and metal leaf as primary mediums. She received a BFA in Printmaking from RISD in 2005 and an MFA from MICA in 2012. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and has been the recipient of several artists grants including from tthe Josef and Annie Albers Foundation, CT and Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, NM. She lives and works in Northern CA.
