Experimental Monotype on Textiles

Using a variety of mark-making tools, natural materials, various objects and stencils, we will create one of a kind prints on textiles using the painterly process of monotype printing. We will experiment with color mixing, positive/negative space, and layering to create interesting, complex effects to storytell within your imagery. Using plexiglass plates of various sizes and an etching press, participants will be able to print small designs (ex: 8×10″) as well as larger designs (ex: 24×36″), providing a variety of compositional opportunities. All fabric printed and heat set in class can be sewn, quilted, embroidered, or collaged outside of class.
