Foam Plate Prints Without a Press (June)

In this workshop we will apply a variety of techniques and materials to draw lines, make marks, and press shapes into simple foam plates using water soluble block inks. While the class will focus primarily on applying the inks with a brayer, students may also apply the inks with a brush. Results are immediate and participants will be able to create several prints in class. The foam plates can be re-inked many times to make multiple prints from the same plate. Prints are hand pulled without the need of a press. All levels welcome.

About the Instructor:

Liz Schiff is a Bay Area watercolor artist, printmaker, and instructor. Her work has been in multiple solo and group shows over the last twenty years. She has taught adult classes for over twenty-five years and has a solid background in how to convey a variety of subject matter to a wide-range of learners with humor, patience, and organization. Liz is a member of the California Society of Printmakers and holds an M.A. in Communication and a B.A. in French.
