Camp Kala • Fun with Fiber: Mixed Media Drawing, Weaving and more! • Ages 5-10

Experiment with a wide variety of techniques and materials! Learn simple weaving techniques and basic sewing stitches such as the lazy daisy and the cross stitch. To compliment our fun with fibers we will investigate mixed media drawing practices and techniques such as stencil making, watercolor and oil pastel resist and collage. Mixed media artists such as Faith Ringgold and El Anatsui will be discussed and explored. Students will be encouraged to imagine and choose projects that they want to do: Would you make a doll or a pillow? Weave a wall hanging or create an entirely unique experiment?
