In this class, artist Liz Hickok will bring her experience in constructing and photographing miniature cityscapes out of Jell-O, to guide the participants through the process of creating sculptural objects and environments, lighting them, and photographing them.
This class will guide the participants through the process of creating sculptural objects and environments, lighting them, and photographing them. Students can then bring their own creations to class, but they will also work collaboratively and individually to build dioramas, models, or scenes with the goal of a final photograph that is unique to each student. Digital camera and basic photography experience suggested but not required.
Liz Hickok is a San Francisco-based artist working in photography, video, sculpture, installation, and currently, Jell-O. Hickok has been teaching photography, art, and digital imaging classes for over ten years here in the Bay Area, and in Boston, where she lived before moving to San Francisco. Hickok received her MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California. She earned a BFA and BA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.
