Color theory has been modernized in this clear explanation of a new three dimensional color wheel. Understanding how pigments from distinct historical periods behave differently, we will use a limited palette to explore color mixing. Class is open to beginning students and has been very valuable to artists who already have learned color theory in a more traditional manner. Oil paint or encaustic paint may be used, materials provided and no painting experience in either medium is required. Enrollment is limited to 15 students.
Hylla Evans is a paint maker for Evans Encaustics, teaches painting extensively in the Bay Area, New York, and Amsterdam, and for for all six years has been an expert presenter at the International Encaustic Conference in Massachusetts. She has developed new paints and grounds for encaustic painting and encourages each artist to experiment with the boundaries of this exciting medium.
