Ink Optional: Screenprinting with Alternative Materials (WAITLIST ONLY)

This class will explore what happens when we expand the screen-printing process to include nontraditional printing materials such as charcoal, watercolors, clay, dirt, spices, or graphite. We will discuss how the printing process can be adjusted to accommodate these materials. Explore how this process can become an active part of your art practice in this collaborative class. There will be time to experiment with materials and to create your own screen-printed artwork. Previous screenprinting experience is ideal, but not required.

About the Instructor:

Defne Beyce is a Turkish-born, Bay Area based printmaker. Inspired by her family history of continental migration and time living in the American west, she explores ideas of space, location, movement, and roots. She manipulates the screenprinting process to include materials such as dirt,
charcoal, ash, plants, and trash.
