Intro to Polymerplate: Intaglio

In this course, participants will learn about photopolymer intaglio. The plates have a polymer film on them that are light sensitive and water-soluble. Artwork is drawn or created on a transparent film, exposed with an ultra-violet light to the photosensitive plate. Multiple prints can be reproduced from the plates surface! Some photoshop experience helpful, but not necessary to take this introductory course. All levels welcome!

About the Instructor:

Kazuko Watanabe has worked in print media for over twenty years. She has researched and developed three-dimensional prints, print sculpture, the use of intaglio in artist’s books and the combination of traditional print media with computer techniques. In 1999, she received the Library Fellows Award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. In 2001, her work was selected for the “Print National” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art,New York and the collection Ten Years of Artists’ Books, Brooklyn Public Library.
