Stone Lithography (beginning & intermediate)

This course will be an introduction to stone lithography techniques, practice, and theory as well as a brief history of the process. Over several classes each student will be guided in drawing, processing, and printing at least one lithograph in a small edition. This class is geared towards beginning students with little to no experience, but also offers an opportunity for returning students who have some lithography experience to take a more in depth approach to developing their drawings on the stone with previously learned techniques. This class focuses on techniques of printing in black and will go into discussion, but not the practice of color lithography. *This process minimally uses materials that may not be suitable for people with extreme chemical sensitivities akin to mineral spirits and turpeniods.

*no class on Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day
