Camp Kala Wk 5 • Letterpress Printing and Beyond • Ages 12-17
Print, stitch, rip, glue, carve, press, repeat! In this weeklong intensive, students will learn how to operate and print on a tabletop letterpress. We will also explore other methods of printmaking including linocut, rubber-cut, and solvent image transfer. Make your own books and deconstruct and alter old books to insert your own content. No printmaking experience required.
Anna Kingsley is an Oakland based teaching artist. Her clients include the San Francisco Jewish Community Center, Camp 510 where she has taught for the past three years, Chapter 510 where she has taught book making to adults and children, and several east bay school districts in their after school programs teaching origami. Formally a teacher for students with special needs, she takes her love of teaching and art and unites them in her work. She holds a BA in American History and a Ed. Specialist credential for students with moderate to severe disabilities. She has operated Pickypockets Press since 2010, a letterpress and bookbinding studio. At home, she loves to cook, make messes, parent her three teenagers, and relax from her many day jobs.
