Mokuhanga 1: Japanese Woodblock (ONLINE) *6 Weeks* (Mar/Apr)

Mokuhanga 1 introduces a traditional Japanese woodblock printing process, ukiyo-e technique. Participants will learn to carve the woodblock, use Japanese carving tools, and print with water-based ink on Japanese paper. Learn to carve your own woodblocks and create a small edition of multicolor prints! All levels welcome. Complete materials kit will be provided.

Although this class spans 6 weeks, there are only 5 classes: March 20, 27, April 3, 10, and 24.

*Please note that you must be able to pick up the materials kit from our studio in West Berkeley.*

Kala will be using Zoom, an online video conferencing service to bring participants our interactive creative lessons. Kala will follow recommended security measures, and set virtual classroom expectations so we can maintain a safe and fun learning experience for all participants online.
