Multiple Plates and Color Etching

This is a multiple plate printing course that builds on the skills learned in an introductory copper plate etching class and further develops them by adding new copper plates, polymer plates, and monoprint technique. This multiple plate course will take you from simple registration systems to complex registration systems using odd-sized plates and combinations of mediums and materials.

***Prerequisite: Intro to Copper Plate Etching or adjacent introductory etching experience  -if you’re not sure if the class is the right fit for you, please reach out to classes@kala.org

About the Instructor:

Kazuko Watanabe has worked in print media for over twenty years. She has researched and developed three-dimensional prints, print sculpture, the use of intaglio in artist’s books and the combination of traditional print media with computer techniques. In 1999, she received the Library Fellows Award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. In 2001, her work was selected for the “Print National” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York.
