Painterly Aquatint (Intaglio)

Looking to create luscious and varied tonalities in your intaglio practice? Then immerse yourself in this Painterly Aquatint Class! In the course we will cover how to create a beautiful aquatint, and then we will delve into the three painterly techniques of spit bite, sugar lift, and white soap ground. Plate preparation, inking, wiping, and printing plates will also be covered. Some understanding of the intaglio process is a plus, but beginners are also welcome.

About the Instructor:

Kate Goyette is a professional printer and artist who lives and works in the Bay Area. She holds an MFA in Printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and completed the Printer Training Program at Tamarind Institute. Before moving to California, Kate worked as the Assistant Printer at Highpoint Editions where she worked with Jim Hodges, Do Ho Suh, Julie Buffalohead, and others. Kate has also worked at Muskat Studios, Oehme Graphics, and Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. She has taught various printmaking workshops over the years and is the current Printmaking Studio Manager at California College of the Arts. While Kate has a true love for all things print, litho holds a special place in her heart.
