Camp Kala • Teen Studio Workshop: Drawing & Painting • Ages 11-17
Practice different drawing and painting skills in a fun, creative environment. Learn about line quality, shading, color, and composition while drawing from observation and reference, while improving technical and representational. There will be opportunities to draw the figure, facial expressions, and portraits as well as still life and the landscape/environment. Students will each create a small series as a final project with subject matter and media of their own choice.
Leah Yael Levy is a visual artist storyteller and teacher based in Berkeley, CA. Born and raised in Moshav Beit Lechem Haglilit, Israel. She first moved to New York City in 2002 to attend the Art Students League of New York, and later gained a BFA of Illustration from Parsons the New School for Design (2011). After four years creating visuals for The Unemployed Philosophers Guild (Brooklyn), she moved to California to pursue an MFA in Comics at California College of the Arts (2017). She is a Teaching Artist for Kala, the Richmond Art Center and the JCC of the East Bay. Her work has been published by Forward Comix (2017) and The Nib (2018) as well as self published.
