Watercolor Painting: Layers, Edges, and Effects (ONLINE)

In this online class, students will be introduced to watercolor techniques and practice controlling this notoriously unpredictable medium. We will learn about color mixing, layering and blending as well as hard and soft edges and different strokes and effects to create beautiful illustrations. Along with learning the fundamentals of watercolor painting, students will be introduced to various artists working with this medium including Shin Yin Khor, Gabriel Liston, and Stephanie Law. Students will use reference images and items of choice from their homes environment. Themes to explore will center around personal journaling and memories and can include landscapes, plant/animal life, people and objects.

*If we meet in person, we will practice painting ‘plein air’ outside from observation.  This option is dependent upon the COVID-19 situation in April and participant interest. May incur additional fee.

Class materials are included with tuition.
