Kala’s education programs are at the heart of our work. As a community-oriented organization, Kala Art Institute is firmly committed to quality art education for all local children, youth and adults. We offer Artists-in-Schools (AIS) programs, summer camps and workshops for youth and families, and open registration classes for adults. With a commitment to accessibility and inclusion, we offer tuition assistance for our youth programs, and subsidies for qualifying schools.  Contact us to learn more.

Enrollment for our After School Studio Online Is Now Open!
Designed for artists in grades K-5.

September 16 – December 17, 2020 (Fall)
January 5- May 27, 2021 (Spring)

Tuesdays/Thursdays, 3:30-5:00 pm (grades 3-5)
Wednesdays, 2:30-3:45 pm (grades K-2)

In our small, online classes, we offer lots of hands-on project activities, including art lessons every day, where students explore a variety of media (drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, etc.) and themes related to the world around them. Classes are led by our amazing teaching artists who create a fun, responsive and supportive online environment for all students. Trial Days available!

Arts Enrichment Online

Fall 2020 Arts Enrichment Online Enrollment Open!
Sign up for Kala’s fun and interactive online after school arts enrichment program designed for students in grades K-5. Classes are 12 sessions, 1 hr each.

September 17 – December 18, 2020 (Fall)

Thursdays or Fridays, 2:30-3:30 pm (grades K-5)

 Art Inside Out/ Outside In: Students will create colorful and dynamic drawings, paintings, and sculptures inspired by nature and household objects indoors and outdoors. Arte y Cultura: Folk Art from Latin America: Students explore art, color, pattern, and shapes while learning about folk art from Latin America. Saturday Teen Studio

Enrollment for 2020-2021 coming soon!
Kala Art Institute will soon be offering our Teen Studio program online using Zoom . The program offers a focused studio environment where middle and high school students can dive deep into the creative process. Our time together includes skill-based instruction in a variety of visual art media. Students are encouraged to follow their own vision in applying the techniques that we are exploring together. We offer professional art materials and instruction.

Field Trips

We invite classrooms to participate in Kala’s 2020 guided virtual field-trip program that includes a virtual gallery tour and an interactive art-making activity in conjunction with our exhibitions on view.

View original artwork in a (virtual) gallery environment, learn from working artists and build observation, discussion, critical thinking and art-making skills along the way.
