Collector’s Talk with David Kabakoff
Thursday, January 16, 7pm
Location: Kala Gallery – Project Space, 2990 San Pablo, Berkeley, CA 94702
In conjunction with the exhibition Creating Impressions: Prints from the Collection of David Kabakoff, Kala Gallery is excited to host an evening gallery talk with David Kabakoff on Thursday, January 16, at 7 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
Creating Impressions: Prints from the Collection of David Kabakoff features a selection of work that explores the lives and processes of printmakers from the 16th century to the present. Focusing on images of artists at work in the studio, the exhibition includes pieces that range in tone from documentary to parody. Presses, chemicals, and other printmaking tools are central characters in these pieces alongside the artists who make use of them.
David Kabakoff, of Rancho Santa Fe, California, has assembled a major collection of works that explore the art and history of printmaking. The collection includes artist’s portraits and self-portraits; images of studios, tools, connoisseurs, and collectors; and works related to the evolution of printmaking processes.
