Margaret Leininger

Margaret Leininger addresses alternative economies in which cloth is produced and utilized to express and represent cultural identity in our post-industrial society. While at Kala, Leininger will launch “Industrious Anarchy”, a project that explores the artist’s production of textile objects as a form of protest against foreign produced goods, tariff laws, the damaging environmental impact of textile manufacturing. Leininger is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Art at Arizona State University and is a recipient of several artist project grants from both the Illinois Arts Council and the Arizona Commission and the Arts.
