Kala’s 2020 – FUND-A-NEED

With the onset of COVID-19, we were challenged with re-imagining the ways we work in the arts, how we gather, share equipment and ideas, and support artists and community.

In the midst of the pandemic, followed by uprisings and the momentum of the Black Lives Matter movement, we are embracing moments of reflection. We continue our mission to be a catalyst for learning and connecting through art and are creatively exploring new ways to accomplish this. At this time we need your help in key areas to move Kala forward, to support recovery, resilience, and resistance, and to re-imagine community offerings. Our goal is to collectively raise $25,000:

 – For vital tech needs to move education programs online and increase access for young artists to Kala’s youth arts programming this summer, fall, and beyond

– To say yes to all families who need financial support for access to Kala’s on-site youth art programs and connect more deeply with neighboring public schools – so we can continue to nurture the next generation of creative problem solvers

– To implement new systems in Kala’s gallery, community classroom, and artist residency programs to welcome back artists from near and far to work safely and with social distancing in the studio

– To invest today in anti-racist work and resources to create a long-term holistic approach to diversity and inclusion that is integrated in Kala’s day-to-day and throughout each program

With your help we can accomplish these goals, continue to provide access to the arts, and more! Please make your tax-deductible contribution here, call Ellen at 510-520-6438 to make a gift via credit card, or mail a check to Kala Art Institute, 1060 Heinz Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94710
