INTRODUCTION TO STONE LITHOGRAPHY

Presented over seven evenings, this workshop introduces the basic skills required for stone lithography. Students learn how to prepare the stone for drawing, select drawing materials, and gain familiarity with techniques for etching and proofing stones, editioning, and curating. Participants will work with individual stones and produce a small edition of prints. This is an excellent beginner course for anyone interested in lithographic printmaking at Kala. Enrollment is limited to 7 students.

Angie Garberina received her MFA from the University of North Dakota and her BFA from the University of New Mexico. Garberina is a lithographer and bronze sculptor. She was a Kala Artist-in-Residence in 1995 and has been teaching lithography at Kala since 1997. Garberina is a recipient of the Change Grant awarded by Robert Rauschenberg. A Bay Area resident, her work is exhibited regionally.

INTRODUCTION TO PLATE LITHOGRAPHY

Presented over eight evenings, this course covers the basic skills required for plate lithography. Participants will learn how to prepare a plate, use basic drawing materials, etch, proof, and print a small edition of lithographs in black and white and color. Introduction to Stone Lithography is highly recommended as preparation for this course. Enrollment is limited to 7 students.
