This two-day workshop covers a variety of monotype techniques: direct painting, multiple drop printing, chine collé and the use of stencils. Paint onto a thin plexiglass plate using brushes and rollers, then run the plates through an etching press. Learn to mix inks and explore color as self-expression. The instructor assists participants in composition and connecting monotypes with other art-making concepts.

Livia Stein's monoprints are nationally recognized for their dynamic blend of symbolic imagery with vibrant coloration. Recent solo exhibitions include the Giorgi Gallery in Berkeley, and the Toomey-Tourel Gallery and SFMOMA Artists' Gallery in San Francisco. An instructor at the Dominican College in San Rafael for many years, Livia received a BA in History from UC Berkeley and an MA in Interdisciplinary and Experimental Art from San Francisco State University.
