If you're seeking environmentally safe alternatives to the more hazardous printmaking materials, this workshop is designed with your needs in mind. It provides a comprehensive, non-toxic exploration of intaglio printmaking including hard ground, aquatint and spit bite processes with a special emphasis on photo-etching. Experimentation and combination of various techniques are encouraged. Consider integrating 16th century print processes with the latest in digital imaging technologies--all with non-hazardous materials. Appropriate for artists of all skill levels. Of particular use to artists who require an environmentally safe print studio. Enrollment is limited to 10 students.
Mark Zaffron received his MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and his BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. He is currently Instructor of Printmaking and Drawing at Ohlone College. and Founder and Director of the Center for Research, Art, Technology & Education, a non-profit teaching and research printmaking studio in Oakland. Zaffron has lectured as Visiting Artist at numerous prominent printmaking programs including Cooper Union, the Chicago Art Institute, the Museo Nacional in Buenos Aires and the Galilee Intaglio Studio in Israel. Nationally and internationally celebrated, his work has been included in exhibitions at Barrett House Galleries in New York, The Chicago Center for the Print, The Plains Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
