Call for Entries: Exhibition at Kala Gallery with Honorarium
Kala Art Institute presents the first artists competition for a group or one-person exhibition. The competition includes an exhibition at the Kala Gallery that will be take place from October 14 - November 27, 2004. Selected artist(s) will also receive a cash award ($2000) The competition is open to California-resident artists working in all media (not including crafts, furniture, and jewelry). The exhibition is devoted to the discovery and introduction of emerging artists and under-recognized artists who are currently residents of California.
Deadline: Postmark/Delivery Date on or by Friday, August 20, 5:00PM, 2004 at Kala office.
Requirements for submission of exhibition proposals are as follows:
* One page proposal for individual or group exhibition.
* Artist statement (optional)
* Resume (one page)
* 10 images of current work relevant work to the exhibition proposal.
Images may be submitted in the following formats:
35mm slides, CD-R, DVD, photographs or digital prints of artwork.
Video artists must present at least 3 work samples on:
VHS/SVHS, Mini DV, CD-R, or DVD. Limited to 5 minutes for each sample.
* Each image must be numbered and entered on slide list.
Slides labels must include artist's name, title of work, media and dimensions.
Indicate top of work.
* A self-addressed stamped envelope for return of materials. Application materials will not be returned without a SASE
* Competition winners will be notified by phone or mail. No phone calls. Please check Kala's website www.kala.org for competition results.
* A reminder - applicants must currently be a California resident.
* Deadline: Postmark/Delivery Date on or by Friday, August 20, 5:00PM, 2004 at Kala office.
NOTE: Kala will retain the selected proposals and slides or work samples for our records.
