Five to eight artists will each receive a Fellowship consisting of: * a $2,000 cash award * six consecutive months of free residency at Kala Art Institute * 24/7 access to Kala's printmaking workshop and electronic media center * exhibition of artwork created during the residency in a group show at the Kala Gallery. Applicants will be judged on conceptual creativity, originality and artistic excellence as well as technical familiarity with traditional printmaking and/or digital media. Fellowships are awarded to artists who have produced innovative work in printmaking, digital media including sound or video arts, and have a keen interest in expanding their technical repertoire through access to Kala1s printmaking, photo-process, letterpress, computer and video editing equipment. Artists with experience combining computer graphics with techniques such as lithography, intaglio, relief printing and book arts are encouraged to apply. The Fellowship does not include housing. GUIDELINES -Download an application cover sheet; * a completed application cover sheet (enclosed); * a one or two page statement discussing the work you intend to pursue during a residency at Kala Art Institute; * a current resume detailing your training/skill level * 10 - 20 labeled slides (name, title, media size, arrow indicating top of slide) * corresponding slide list/narrative; * a self-addressed, stamped return envelope (with correct postage) for the return of your materials.
