------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March/18/04Kala Fellowship Artists Talk
Presents Paul Catanese and Cynthia Innis
Paul Catanese recently arrived at Kala from Chicago. He received his MFA in Art and Technology Studies from The Chicago Art Institute and has extensive teaching experience in digital media. Paul's work focuses on hybrid art forms, most recently utilizing and subverting Nintendo's Gameboy technology. Paul's Fellowship fortuitously coincided with his move to the Bay Area for a teaching position at San Francisco State University. For a preview of Paul's work, check out his website http://www.paulcatanese.com Cynthia Innis was the only Bay Area artist awarded a Kala Fellowship in 2003. Cynthia received her MFA from the prestigious Center for Innovative Printmaking program at Rutgers University and was also a recipient of a Phelan Award in painting. Her work beautifully meshes painting and drawing with printmaking and elements of collaged fabric. She is represented by San Francisco's Braunstein/Quay Gallery where her work has been featured in several solo exhibitions. Cynthia has also been teaching at various universities and art schools in the Bay Area. We encourage you to join us in welcoming our new Fellowship artists at this get-together. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Hope to see you there.
