Learn the fundamentals of an ancient printmaking technique. Explore different periods and styles of relief printmaking, from medieval woodcut to German expressionism. Create your own ex-libris, start your own illustrated book, or create a masterpiece in this gratifying medium. You will also learn how to print using a letterpress. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a linoleum cut master.
Artemio Rodriguez was born in Tacambaro, Michoacan, México. He studied printmaking during his apprenticeship to master book printer Juan Pascoe in Michoacán. Rodriguez began working as a printmaker after moving to the United States in 1994. His linocuts were featured in Woodcuts of Women and Lotería Cards and Fortune Poems: A Book of Lives. His works are featured in museums, and galleries, and private collections. In 2002 he founded his own publishing company, La Mano Press, which focuses on graphic arts. Rodriguez currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
