Kala Art Institute offers extensive facilities in all forms of traditional printmaking including intaglio, lithography, woodcut, letterpress and book arts, photographic processes, as well as digital media and combined techniques.
    Even Better Equipped
Thanks to the James Irvine Foundation Kala's artists are more fortunate than ever to enter the Electronic Media Center and take advantage of our new equipment: the Imacon Flextite Precision III scanner. perfect for scanning slides, negatives and transparencies, as well as a Polaroid scanner. We have Final Cut Pro 3 software for our video artists, and also a new Canon XL-1S video camera & Still camera. Finally we can output images on our new printer the 54" Roland 500, whose pigments remain archival. All this allows artists ways to integrate new digital technology with traditional printmaking techniques.
