Sergio De La Torre and Chris Treggiari
The Sanctuary City Print Shop is an ongoing project looking at Sanctuary Cities, ICE raids and their effect in the Bay Area immigrant community. Through conversations with local nonprofits and their constituents in Oakland, this new iteration will create pop-up printing events at various locations along San Pablo Ave. Our goal is to amplify these voices – using the posters to get these messages out up and down San Pablo Ave.
Sergio De La Torre and Chris Treggiari have been researching and documenting projects related to immigration issues, specifically looking at the Sanctuary City Ordinance, for the past 10 years. Sergio De La Torre has worked with and documented the manifold ways by which citizens reinvent themselves in the city they inhabit. Chris Treggiari’s artistic practice strives to investigate how art can enter the public realm in a way that can connect wide ranges of people and neighborhoods in a variety of communities. Both Sergio and Chris are based in the Bay Area.
