This summer, PLAySPACE will host a series of one-night events in the gallery. This series will turn the gallery into a space for experimentation, presentation and conversation. Participation for this event is not exclusive to the CCA community. These events will feature works-in-progress by artists, writers, architects, designers and curators within and outside of CCA. Participants are invited to bring actual works-in-progress or documentation of these works to show and discuss casually. Each event will have a schedule with 10-minute time slots, which people can sign up for ahead of time. These slots give each participant the opportunity to show and talk about what they’re working on at the moment. These are not meant to be critiques or finalized exhibitions.

And what’s an event without refreshments? There will most definitely be drinks and snacks.
Everyone is invited to join us, whether you’re sharing your work or coming to look, listen and talk!

The schedule of events is as follows:

Monday, June 11, 7-10 pm
Monday, June 25, 7-10 pm
Monday, July 9, 7-10 pm
Monday, July 23, 7-10 pm

The event series will culminate in a month-long residency at PLAySPACE, for which one artist/writer/architect/designer/curator who shares work over the summer will be selected by the directors and committee to use the gallery as their studio for the month of August, 2007.

In your email, please tell us:

- the date you wish to participate (and a particular time, if you’re not able to stick around for the whole time)

- the format in which you plan to bring work: either an object that needs to be installed in the gallery; a piece of writing that you will read aloud;or a CD of digital images to be projected in the space during your time slot(or another format, if needed)

Each participant will be allotted 10 minutes to show and talk about what they’ve brought, to ensure that everyone gets a chance to speak and, most importantly, that there’s time left for conversation. After receiving emails from everyone who would like to participate on June 11, we will put a schedule together and be in touch with you about the details.

Installation will happen on June 8; all artworks and CDs must be dropped off at the gallery between 12 pm and 5 pm on Friday, June 8. Please let us know if you’ll need to schedule another time to drop off your creations. Work can be de-installed at the end of the night of June 11. Please let us know if you’ll need to pick up your work at a later date.
