Artist-in-Schools Teaching Opportunity

Dear Kala Artists:
We are looking for a dynamic Teaching Artist to instruct a series of printmaking workshops at a Berkeley elementary school. The guest artist will teach one 45-minute model lesson per class (k-5) per week for six weeks and coach one class per week for four weeks. We are hoping to arrange a schedule of 3 classes per day twice a week. You will also be expected to attend monthly meetings (approx. 1hour each) with the school. You will be paid generously for your contact hours as well as some prep time.
Teachers will meet initially with the artist and discuss possible activities and how they can be integrated into the classroom academic curriculum. After six weeks, the teaching artist will coach the classroom teacher in developing and presenting a lesson to his/her class and another class at the same grade level.
The School will buy a small tabletop press that can be moved on a cart from room to room. The art room is also available for lessons. They would like to see informal exhibitions of student work at the school throughout the residency.
Please contact us with any questions or to express your interest in this exciting opportunity.
