ARTworkSF is seeking works of art that offer insight, empathy, personal experience or
Opinions in response to the thematic questions proposed in the exhibition entitled: “Breaking Ice”: Bay Area Artists Consider The African Diaspora.
This exhibit will be produced in conjunction with the San Francisco International Arts Festival ( African Diaspora/Knowledge and Truth, May 17-June 3, 2007.
A juried call for entries open to artists residing in the greater Bay Area: North Bay, South Bay, East Bay and San Francisco. Submission Deadline is Tuesday, October 31, 2006. All media accepted.
A Distinguished juror panel will select artwork. Multiple sites will be coordinated in order to reflect “migration” of dispersed people.

Thelma Fuqua; President of the Board of Director’s: San Francisco International Arts Festival
Raymond Holbert; Instructor of Design ,African-American Art History, an Illustration, City College of San Francisco
Mildred Howard; National and International artist known for her large scale installations. Awarded the 2004/05 Joan Mitchell Award. Teaches at San Francisco Art Institute
Bay Area artists will have a unique opportunity to showcase works of art that address contemporary issue of the Diaspora: politics, war, poverty, famine, disease, identity, beauty, religious cosmology, cultural ideology, traditional genres of African Art.
All submissions must be postmarked by October 31, 2006.
