Artists’ Workshop: Introduction to Public Art

Introduction to Public Art:

Saturday, November 17, 2007, from 9:30am to 4:30pm
At the new Edenvale Library: 101 Branham Lane East, San José

The San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs invites artists from the Bay Area and Silicon Valley who have had little or no experience in Public Art and are interested in entering the field.

Participants will gain a broad understanding of what the field requires, including the role of Public Art in community and economic development; project development and administration; related policies; and valuable resources.

The workshop will include a discussion of regional Public Art opportunities, and will feature artist Troy Corliss presenting a case study on his work in the Edenvale Library. Students will receive an extensive workbook on CD.

Cost is $10, and includes all materials as well as coffee and lunch. Space is limited, so please register early!
