Call for entries for innovating and comtemporary printmaking Exhibit at Studio Channel Island Art Center

Studio Channel Island Art Center is holding a call for entries for a summer show on Contemporary and Innovative Printmaking by California Artists.

Entries must be received by March 15, 2008 and artists will be notified by April 15th, 2008.

The show will focus on unexpected handling or new modes of use and display in terms of content and expression in print media. All work must employ a traditional printmaking component (intaglio, relief, lithography or serigraphy) as purely digital work and photography will not be considered. Work may be wall hung, sculptural or installation based. Artists’ books may also be submitted.
The exhibition will be held at Studio Channel Islands Art Center Galleries during the summer of 2008. SCIART’s galleries, the largest exhibition spaces in Ventura County, are one part of the expansive cultural outreach of the non-profit organization located on the beautiful campus of CSU Channel Island. Selected artists will be asked, in lieu of any entry fees, to help offset the cost of exhibition cards and refreshments for the opening. Artists will be responsible for shipping or drop off of their work both to and from SCIART and the work will be insured during the exhibition period.
Interested artists should submit no more than 5 works on a clearly labeled CD. Images should be 300 dpi jpegs no larger than 5 inches in any direction. A title sheet with information regarding the size, media and year of creation for each piece, as well as a short artist’s bio should be as both a hard copy and as word documents on the CD.
Entries must be received by March 15, 2008 and artists will be notified by April 15th, 2008.
