Position available – Half time assistant professor position – Video Artist

The University at Albany, SUNY, seeks an experienced video artist to fill a half-time assistant professor position in the Department of Art.
The ideal candidate is an actively exhibiting artist with an MFA degree in an appropriate discipline from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Exceptional candidates with outstanding professional
experience or significant creative achievements are also strongly encouraged to apply. The Art Department is looking for an individual who will sustain serious exhibition activity or creative scholarship and will enjoy teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, as
well as working closely with MFA students.
Technical proficiencies should include: Apple platform (Mac OSX), FinalCut Pro, Motion, Logic, Adobe Creative Suite, as well as familiarity with DV cameras and lighting equipment/techniques.
The University at Albany is one of the four comprehensive research and graduate centers of the SUNY system. The Art Department has an excellent full time faculty of seventeen, all accomplished artists and scholars.
There are 185 undergraduate majors combined in Studio and Art History, and approximately 40 graduate students in the MA and MFA programs. In addition to our curriculum offerings, the Art Department sponsors a lively lecture series of visiting artists, critics and art historians.
The Fine Arts Building and Boor Sculpture offer classroom and laboratory spaces for undergraduates, as well as state-of-the-art production facilities for both traditional and emerging media, and private studios for graduate students.
The Visual Resource Library and the University Art Museum are also housed in the Fine Arts Building. Located in Albany, NY – New York State’s capital – the University is convenient to Boston, New York City and other Metropolitan areas of the Northeast. Candidates must address
