Performance Company is looking for Visual Artists

CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS

Scrap and Salvage, a site-specific performance/ installation company, is seeking collaborators for its upcoming new work to be developed from, and performed in, The LAB this summer. Beginning on June 29th, Scrap and Salvage will be in residence in The LAB’s main gallery space. Along with a group of collaborators, they will investigate the space’s form and context – its myths, legends, and ghosts – and then collaboratively develop material which will be pieced together by the director into a performance event. Performances will take place Wednesdays – Saturdays, July 23 – August 2, 2008.

During the residency, artists will be asked to be present at The LAB between one and three times per week. Participants will be asked to respond sincerely to the space and to be flexible and collaborative while working with others. It is crucial that the developed material exist and transform over time while being manipulated in performance. Visual artists are invited to collaborate on the piece’s development, though not everyone will be asked or required to perform.
