Artwork for San Francisco Area Housing Complex

474 Natoma Street Rendering

474 Natoma Street, LLC, an affiliate of BRIDGE Housing Corporation, is seeking qualified artists residing in the state of California, preferably Bay Area, to submit their qualifications for the commissioning of an artwork for an affordable homeownership development in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco.  The development, currently called 474 Natoma Street, will be affordable to low and moderate income homebuyers. 474 Natoma Street, LLC is required to provide art equal to 1% of the development’s construction cost and provide the art be installed and maintained in an area that is on the site of the building and clearly visible from the public sidewalk or open space feature.

The goal of the selected artwork will be to enhance the neighborhood, complement the building architecture and public streetscape improvements along Sixth Street, and reflect the overall character and diverse cultures of the South of Market area.


BUDGET

Approximately $200,000. Will cover all related costs of design, insurance, materials, fabrication and installation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF QUALIFICATIONS

1.  One page letter of interest indicating an approach for the project and related experience.

2.  Resume (up to 3 pages).

3.  Fifteen (15) images of past work on a PC Compatible CD. All images must be in Power Point Presentation.  Please name power point file as follows: with artist’s last name, first initial  (e.g. smithb).  Number each image in lower right hand corner (superimposed on image), corresponding to the number on the Annotated Image List.

4.  Annotated Image List must include title of artwork, media, dimensions, year completed, budget and commissioning agency, and a number corresponding to a CD filename as specified above.  Please include a brief and clearly narrated project description for each image.

5.  If applying as a team, please designate a lead artist as the primary contact. A maximum of 10 images may be submitted per artist.

6.  Self-addressed stamped envelope for return of paper material or CD. (No work will be returned without SASE)
