Hear Us, See Us: Visions Across Curriculum

Description: Now in the second year of our partnership with the Arts and Humanities Academy (AHA) at Berkeley High School, Kala Art Institute’s Artists-in-Schools program (AIS) is leading intensive curriculum-driven workshops at each grade level (9–12). The artists/scholars of the Arts and Humanities Academy will present work from this year’s AIS residencies that investigates immigrant voices, HIV prevention, First Amendment rights in relation to artists, and ways of mapping our local communities. The exhibition will also feature a sampling of the outstanding artwork that our students make year round. The AHA community, in partnership with Kala, is dedicated to bridging academics and the arts: together we help our students to become scholarly in their art and artistic in their scholarship. We at AHA and Kala celebrate these emerging artist-scholars with Hear Us, See Us: Visions Across Curriculum.
