Drawing Fundamentals

In this introductory 6-week workshop, we will learn the foundations of observational drawing: mark making, measurement, shapes, gestures, value, perspective, and shading. We will also consider how drawing supports other aspects of our art practice. This will be a supportive environment for anyone who has struggled with drawing in the past, or simply is interested in building their skills alongside other beginners. No experience needed!

About the Instructor:

Sun Park is a visual artist with a hybrid practice. Using installation, interactive ritual, writing, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, drawing, and video, Park explores the evolution
of the self through a somatically grounded spirituality and an invented mythology. Park has exhibited at /room/ (Slash Gallery, SF), Southern Exposure (SF), Aggregate Space (Oakland), and Alternative Space LOOP (Seoul). They were a Mentorship and Exhibitions Fellow with the SF Art Commission Main Gallery, a Grantee with the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center, an Interdisciplinary Writer’s Lab Fellow with Kearny Street Workshop and are currently a Creative in Residence at The Ruby. They have taught at San Francisco State University, Union College, and co-taught interdisciplinary art and writing workshops at SFAC Main Gallery and Winslow House.
