Lithography for Ceramics

Interested in incorporating photorealistic images in your ceramic work? In this 3-day workshop, participants will learn a lithographic-type technique, allowing for highly detailed images and text to be transferred directly onto clay. Participants should anticipate creating tiles or small work to transfer images onto. Some basic ceramic experience is required (not sure if you fall under this umbrella? Reach out to classes@kala.org!).

About the Instructor:

Andres \”AJ\” Serrano is a queer, Mexican American artist born and raised in the Bay Area. He received his MFA in Art (Ceramics) at SF State and his BA from UCLA, double majoring in Spanish and Chicana/o Studies. Andres’ work has been exhibited at the Berkeley Art Center, 500 Capp Street, Root Division, and the Richmond Art Center. Prior to his ceramic practice, Andres has a professional background in non-profits, with a focus on development, fundraising, and grant writing. When he’s not in the studio, Andres can be seen riding his bike through the East Bay, researching ceramic glaze recipes, exploring the bulk bins at Sprouts, and watching any Real Housewives franchise show.
