Screenprinting Basics

In this introductory class we will cover all aspects of the screenprinting process. Students will bring imagery they wish to print, and will create an edition of single color prints, as well as an edition of prints utilizing 2-4 colors. Students will learn about film and stencil setup, screen exposure, press setup and registration, ink mixing, and printing techniques. No printmaking or screenprinting experience required.

About the Instructor:

Ryan Harrison (born in Albuquerque 1995) is a printmaker specializing in Screen Printing and Woodcut. Harrison works as a professional printer for Oakland based artist Sandy Walker, as his dedicated studio printer, as well as being the lead printer at Cloth Edition Print Shop in San Francisco. Harrison specializes in hand printed textiles and intricate alternative techniques which he uses in his personal art practice. Harrison has shown recently at SHOH Gallery, and the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, where he received a solo show in 2020. Harrison graduated from SFAI in 2017, receiving the Outstanding Student award and the Bronze Roller Award.
