After School Studio (1st-5th Grade)

At Kala, we nurture curiosity and creativity through the arts. Students explore a variety of visual art media, techniques, and concepts, and learn about artists, artistic practices, and themes related to personal and community experiences. Classes encourage young artists to connect, experiment, and dive deep into the creative process.

Class size is small! Students engage in skill-based instruction,  hands-on structured projects, and open studio time to experiment and have fun.  Class activities may include visits from guest artists, gallery walks, games, and conversational reflections to help build an appreciation for art and the role of art(ists) in our community. Access to Kala’s gallery exhibitions and incredible collection of art works enrich classroom activities and hands-on art making.
