Leslie Shows

Leslie Shows explores geologic history and our fractured relationship to the landscape through her meticulously complex works on paper. Assembling densely layered collages from an assortment of printed imagery, Leslie’s works imply a strangely stratified timeline within landscapes that often contain no comprehensible horizon line. Although having just graduated in 2006 with an MFA from California College of the Arts, Leslie’s work has been presented in numerous venues including several solo exhibitions at Jack Hanley Gallery in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, and inclusion in the 2006 California Biennial in Orange County. She has recently received several prestigious awards, including the 2007 SECA Award and exhibition at SFMOMA, and the Tournesol Award and residency at Headlands Center for the Arts.
