Fund a Fellowship

FUEL ARTISTIC EXPERIMENTATION AND SUPPORT A KALA FELLOWSHIP TODAY!

For 40 years, Kala has annually awarded artists time, space, and financial support to explore and develop their ideas and create new art work in a collaborative environment. Kala’s Fellowship program is respected around the world for the support it offers to artists, specialized resources spanning printmaking, photography, sculpture, and media arts, points of contact with accessible staff, and the caliber of work artists produce and share with the community while in residence.

Fellowship artists receive a $3,000 stipend, unlimited access to Kala’s facilities for an artist residency up to nine months, enrollment in one free Kala class or workshop, and an exhibition in the Kala gallery. Fellows coming to Kala from outside the Bay Area also receive one-month of housing.

Kala’s artist residencies and fellowships are at the heart of the work we do, providing artists a unique space for art-making, collaboration, learning, and connection. With a shifting cultural and funding landscape and without funding for Kala’s Artist Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts for the first time in several decades, we are reaching out to you, our community for help. We invite you to support this signature program by funding a fellowship today!

Sponsoring a Fellowship isn’t just a gift—it’s an experience. We invite you to lead the way when you support a Fellowship at Kala. Be creative about your designation – establish a Fellowship based on a specific
discipline or region, or choose another distinct characteristic. Select from a variety of opportunities to engage with Fellowship artists and Kala.

We will celebrate and acknowledge your support with naming opportunities and special public recognition. Learn more here and reach out to Ellen Lake, Kala’s Co-Executive Director at elllen@kala.org or 510-520-6438.

Thank you for bringing new voices into our creative space, fueling artistic experimentation, and being a vital member of the Kala community.
