Classes & Instructors
Classes are small with 14-16 kids. Our instructors are practicing artists, and child whisperers who create a fun, responsive, and supportive studio environment for all young artists. No experience in the artistic discipline is necessary for any camp.

Lunch and Snacks
Please plan to bring your lunch, drinks, and snacks daily. Middle and High School students may take a short walk (supervised) to the Berkeley Bowl Market, which has a wide selection of prepared foods. Snack breaks happen in the morning and afternoon according to the class needs.

Lunch Break / Outdoor Play Time
Lunch breaks are outdoors on the front lawn, back table areas, or indoors depending on the weather. Younger participants eat and play outside during supervised lunch and break times (weather permitting); Kala staff and campers also walk to San Pablo Park nearby for outdoor group games and free play. Plenty of books and indoor activities are available during studio breaks each day.

Friday Afternoon Exhibitions
At the end of the week,  we will hang students’ work in the community classroom/project space. Families and friends are invited to enjoy an exhibition of student artwork. For Elementary School groups: Fridays, 2:30- 3:00 pm and Middle & School groups, Fridays, 3:30- 4:00 pm.
